This Week At ICUJP - December 9 - 15
December 10th is International Human Rights Day, commemorating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted on Dec. 10, 1948 after the horrors of WW II. With the establishment of the United Nations, representatives of different nations gathered together to ensure that individuals had certain inalienable rights that no nation could take away or restrict - whereas before, human rights were thought of as a national or domestic concern. Monday, December 10
Arraignment of Lucy Boutte, Ralph Fertig, Jon Krampner, and Carolfrances Likins will be at 8:30 AM
Arraignment Court, 429 Bauchet St., Los Angeles, CA 90012
We are asking supporters to gather at 8 AM in Solidarity With the ICUJP 14! Wear clerical raimants or white.
Background: On October 7, 2011, fourteen people answered the call of the Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace to risk arrest in protest of our nation’s ten-year war and occupation against the people of Afghanistan. Of those fourteen, four refused to attend a lecture by the city attorney’s office to have the charges dropped, preferring to risk jail time in order to be able to have their case heard in court. We hope to have the judge at the arraignment see the support of the community.
Public transportation: Union Station; take the NE exit, walk NE to César Chávez and Vignes,
Parking: 1 Gateway Plaza (on César Chávez just west of Vignes), walk NE to César Chávez and Vignes,
Then, from either, walk N. on Vignes; turn NE on Bauchet.
