Friday Forum - Elizabeth Gonzalez: How Public Counsel Protects Consumer Rights and Economic Justice
Learn about ways Public Counsel’s Consumer Rights and Economic Justice Project serves Los Angeles County residents who are low-income. Supervising Staff Attorney Elizabeth Gonzalez will discuss the areas of practice we assist with, and will provide information about our free debt collection defense, foreclosure prevention, and bankruptcy clinics.
This is an information session and legal advice will not be provided. However, you will learn how to contact Public Counsel’s Consumer Rights and Economic Justice Project for assistance.

Elizabeth Gonzalez serves as a Supervising Staff Attorney with Public Counsel’s Consumer Rights and Economic Justice Project. Elizabeth has assisted consumers who are low-income in all areas of consumer law for over a decade, including student loans, debt collection defense, home equity scams, and bankruptcy.
Elizabeth serves on the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation’s Debt Collection Advisory Committee, has presented to national audiences on student loans and bankruptcy, and has testified in front of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee on bankruptcy reforms to assist student loan borrowers.
Elizabeth Gonzalez is also a Lecturer in Law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
