Praying a prayer that moves us to help Love and truth meet; justice and peace kiss. These virtues lead us towards the nonviolent Jesus in our gospels.

Professor Michael Howard is the lead faculty instructor of the Loyola Marymount University online continuing education program titled "The Presence of Black Catholics in the Church Today and Tomorrow." Professor Howard also founded the Eat the Scroll Ministry, a prophetic voice for Black Catholics today.

Close Guantanamo NOW!
Our annual Close Guantanamo action at the Westwood Federal Building was very well attended - we would like to thank all of the volunteers and our great speakers, and we pray that next year we can celebrate the closing of this horrible monument to human depravity.
At its peak, the illegal detention center at Guantanamo Bay held almost 800 men and boys of Muslim faith - most of whom were never charged with a crime. Today, 15 prisoners still languish there.
After the Guantanamo Bay prison camp was opened, the Bush Administration commissioned the torture memos, a series of documents designed to retroactively provide a pseudo-legal justification for crimes against humanity. To date no one in the Bush administration has been called to account for writing and implementing these documents, and the mainstream media has seemed to forget about what those torture documents have meant to subsequent administrations and the liberties our military and elected officials have taken in illegal detention and torture.
You can still help - let's send a message to the White House:
Close Guantanamo NOW and release all detainees!
End torture NOW and prosecute the torturers and those who authorized them.
