Event Description:
Kings are not born: they are made by artificial hallucination. -- George Bernard Shaw
ICUJP Chairperson Stephen Rohde, who practiced civil rights and civil liberties law for over 50 years, will discuss Trump's most dangerous Executive Orders; the 400 lawsuits challenging the Trump administration; the hundreds of injunctions granted by the lower courts; how the Supreme Court is abusing the "shadow docket" to create a law-free zone for Trump; and how Congress is actively and passively furthering Trump's fascist agenda.
Then, we'll have an open discussion on how we can organize, mobilize, resist, and fight back.
Join the conversation with our speaker:
Stephen Rohde is a legal scholar, writer, lecturer and political activist, who practiced civil rights and civil liberties law for over 50 years. He is past chair of the ACLU Foundation of Southern California and past national chair of Bend the Arc, a Jewish Partnership for Justice.
Mr. Rohde is also a co-founder and chair of Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace, and a Special Advisor on Free Speech and the First Amendment for the Muslim Public Affairs Council. He hosts the podcast, Speaking Freely.
