Event Description:
President Trump passed H.R. 1 last year, cutting $1 Trillion from healthcare across the nation. Cleverly timed to hit after the midterms, these cuts threaten the health and wellbeing of millions of Californians who don't see it coming. Prop 40 is the only solution to backfill the $100B shortfall facing California in January. Join us to cut through the misinformation about the measure and join our fight to pass this crucial measure in November.

Gabriel Montoya was an EMT for over 2 decades. He served as an executive board member at SEIU-UHW and is now full-time political staff. 
Dr. Anthony Manousos is Co-founder of Making Housing and Community Happen (MHCH), a faith-rooted nonprofit that equips congregations, community leaders, and neighbors with practical tools needed to transform their communities to end homelessness, and to stabilize the cost of housing through education, advocacy, organizing, and advisement. MHCH advocated for SB 4, a state bill that makes it easier for congregations to build affordable housing. MHCH also birthed two nonprofits: the San Gabriel Valley Community Land Trust and Congregational Land Partners, an organization that advises congregations seeking to have affordable housing built on their underutilized land.
A Quaker peace activist, Dr. Manousos serves on the board of Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace. He has edited or written seven books, the most recent being Transformative Quakers and Howard and Anna Brinton: Reinventors of Quakerism in the 20th century.

As Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace celebrates 25 years of action and advocacy for a kinder and more just world, we want to remember those that were on this journey from the start - the people that came together just after the horrors of September 11th, 2001, and saw that the faith and activist communities needed to speak with one voice, and say that Religious Communities Must Stop Blessing War and Violence.
We hope that you will join us on Sunday, September 27th, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, as we look back to our founding, look forward to the task ahead, and honor courageous peacemakers who keep our struggle for justice and peace alive.
The event is free, but we would appreciate voluntary donations of $25, $50 or $100 per person.

This year, Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace is commemorating 25 years of advocacy for the disenfranchised and abused at home and around the world. In the aftermath of September 11th 2001, Los Angeles religious and secular leaders and activists came together to seek an alternative to the fear mongering and vengefulness sweeping much of our nation. ICUJP declared that “Religious Communities Must Stop Blessing War and Violence.”
We have endured and spread our message through very trying times - five Presidents, four California Governors, and numerous crises and challenges that would shake the resolve of even the most devout and dedicated group of activists. But through it all, we have held true to our mission to be the voice for "the least of these." We are determined to create the change we want to see in the world, no matter how daunting the opposition can seem.
Like many nonprofits, the economy, the aftereffects of the Covid pandemic, and the constant attacks on progressive organizations by the Trump administration have affected our fundraising. We depend on the support of people who believe in justice and peace, who attend our weekly Zoom forums, who go to our events, or who receive the information on our website and social media.

“Annihilation” is the first single from NIYAZ’s brand new album and stage production, SEVEN REALMS OF ATTAR.
Created in collaboration with visual artist Theron Pray and dancer/choreographer Jody Sperling, Seven Realms of Attar is a landmark multidisciplinary production by NIYAZ, the pioneering electro-acoustic music collective founded by Azam Ali and Loga Ramin Torkian, redefining tradition through innovation. Inspired by the sublime poetry of Attar’s 12th-century masterpiece Conference of the Birds, the work brings together live music, poetry, dance, visual art, animation, and 3D projection mapping to transform the stage into a living, evolving cosmos. Each realm embodies a stage of the soul’s passage through longing, surrender, awakening, and transcendence.
Rooted in Iranian cultural heritage yet strikingly contemporary in its vision, the production transforms technology into a poetic medium, carrying audiences through seven realms of spiritual discovery. Created in response to a world increasingly shaped by conflict, displacement, and division, Seven Realms of Attar is an invitation into a shared space of reflection and wonder, a poetic affirmation of our common humanity and our enduring longing for unity, freedom, and spiritual awakening.
