2022 Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) Programs Overview + Music

Description: In 2010, Heart of LA partnered with the Los Angeles Philharmonic to launch a youth orchestra program.The Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) at Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) is the second site of Gustavo Dudamel’s signature program and features several youth orchestras. HOLA also provides a structured Music Studios program, including jazz and rock bands and now also a premiere Intergenerational Orchestra, Choir and Big Band Programs!!

Tony BrownTony Brown has been the Executive Director and now CEO of Heart of LA since 2006. Since then, Tony has led the sustainable growth of the organization reaching over 3,100 annually which is 74% more underserved young people in Central and South Central LA with programs and supports that give them opportunities to realize their full potential. He has numerous awards. 

In 2017, he was recognized by the James Irvine Foundation for Leadership Innovation.

Tony holds a BA from Loyola Marymount University, an MS from the University of Tennessee, and was a Stanford University Graduate Fellow in the Business School's Social Innovation Program for Non-Profit Leaders.  Since then, he served on the Advisory Board for Scripps College and was also President of the Dean’s Board of Advisors at the University of Tennessee. For his exemplary service, Tony has been named as a Distinguished Alumni by both Loyola Marymount University and the University of Tennessee. Tony served on the Leadership Council for L.A.'s Promise Zone and is an appointed Commissioner of the California Senate Rules Committee as one of twelve Commissioners working at the state level to provide information and advice to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Secretary for Education, and the State Board of Education regarding state and federal policy and funding issues affecting before and after school programs. 

Tony, as co-founder of YOLA at HOLA and the Intergenerational Music Programs, is also currently serving on the Advisory Committee for the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

If you prefer to join by phone, you'll be prompted to enter the Meeting ID number and passcode. You won't be able to see the visuals or attendees, but you can view them on the meeting video recording afterward.
